Naperville North did not start well against Benet on Saturday at the Wheaton Classic, but the Huskies rebounded to give the No. 2 Redwings a scare in a Gold Bracket quarterfinal.
After dropping a lopsided 25-12 Game 1, Naperville North looked strong in a 25-23 second-game loss. Huskies coach Jennifer Urban said they only had one practice with their full roster because starting senior setter Christine Wu had a sprained ankle. Wu has been back four matches. North (12-3) pulled ahead five different times behind solid blocking and serving, including three aces by senior outside hitter Ashley Crawford. The game was tied 23-23 before a kill by Benet sophomore outside hitter Maddie Haggerty ended the match. "We knew we needed to play more consistently and work together," Crawford said. "The biggest thing was to bring more intensity in the second game." Comments are closed.
