2011 PREPVOLLEYBALL.COM “DEFENSIVE DANDIES” ANNOUNCED!

5/20/2015

Congratulations to Shelia Doyle, Annie Ferlmann and Shannon O'Brien for being named to the PrepVolleyball.com "Defensive Dandies" which recognizes the best defensive players in the nation. Here is what PrepVolleyball had to say about each one.

Sheila Doyle, Jr., Benet Academy (Lisle, Illinois) – With Doyle in the libero jersey, Benet did not lose a match last fall, going 20-0, including wins at two major tourneys and in the Illinois 4A state title match. A great communicator whose competitive nature brings out the best in her teammates, Doyle led the Redwings in serve receive rating and was second in digs. "Sheila is a great athlete who has learned to the play the libero position very quickly and does so at a very high level,” said coach Brad Baker. “She is an extremely quick defender who tracks the ball well and serve receives with the best liberos in our state."

Annie Ferlmann, Sr., Benet Academy (Lisle, Illinois) – Princeton bound, Ferlmann led the Illinois 4A champs in digs and aces last fall while coming in second in serve receive rating. "Annie is an extremely fast player with one of the best platforms I have ever seen,” said coach Brad Baker. “She is extremely positive on the court and is always encouraging her teammates. She is always trying to say and do things that keep her team in the right mind frame, believing that they can get the job done. Annie is a very caring person always being very polite and is genuinely interested in others and their lives."

Shannon O'Brien, Sr., Benet Academy (Lisle, Illinois) – An intense player with a relentless work ethic, O’Brien is an elite defender with the drive to be great. Not afraid to give 100 percent on every play, O’Brien reads hitters well and is respected by her teammates because of her drive and passion for the game. “Shannon plays with a certain swag that rubbed off on the rest of her teammates this year and helped give our team the championship attitude," said coach Brad Baker.
