Congratulations to Annie Ferlmann and Shannon O’Brien on being named the to Academic All-American Teams!  Annie was one of eight players in the nation to be named the first team and Shannon was named Highest Honorable Mention.  Congrats!

    Annie Ferlmann, 5-9 Libero, Benet Academy (Lisle, Illinois) – Ferlmann led the state-champion Redwings in digs and aces and was second in passer rating in 2011. Bound for Princeton, Ferlmann boasts a 4.1 unweighted GPA and takes a demanding course load filled with AP and Honors classes. She is an Illinois State Scholar, a member of NHS and the French National Honor Society and is a school Eucharistic Minister. “Annie is an extremely positive player,” said coach Brad Baker. “She tries to see the good in everyone and helps to bring out the best qualities in all of our teammates. No matter the situation Annie will find something to be upbeat and positive about.”

"Shannon O'Brien, 5-9 DS, Benet Academy (Lisle, Illinois) – One of the digs leaders for the Illinois 4A champs, O’Brien, who is bound for Cornell, boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA. A natural leader, she is a an Illinois State Scholar and a member of the National Honor Society. “She plays every ball like it is her last ever and expects her team to do the same.”
